Handmade Spaces: Mosey

Today I'm delighted to share the space of Mosey Handmade with you, creator of wonderfully cute clutches, hats, arm warmers, brooches and other goods, many of which are made from recycled materials so they're earth friendly too!  Let's see where Jes, the maker behind Mosey Handmade, gets busy creating stuff! :)

What do you create in this space?
in my space i make hats, mittens, scarves...things to warm you.  i work mainly with recycled materials, wool sweaters i  thrift and them bring home to dye and felt.  i also make my fair share of purses and clutches, and on occasion a quilt. i have been needle felting lately and love it. i find the natural properties of wool, cotton, and linen wonderfully inspiring.

Can you describe what we see in the pictures a bit?
i have a serious collection of pinking shears and a bunch of scissors marked "fabric only".  i have needles for felting, lots of vintage buttons, sequins, bits of ribbon, and stacks and stacks of fabric.
i hung a bit of twine from one corner to the other and keep a stash of old clothespins nearby so that i can hang up things that may inform my work later ...old snapshots, bits of really great fabric, letters, shells i find on my travels. my studio is located on the second floor of my house with a wee view of the garden.
How do you feel when you enter your "handmade space?"
last year i painted the walls a lovely green (called "tiny leaf") and every time i walk into my work space i feel quieted and fired-up at the same time.  all of the many materials can seems daunting at times--and the mess, but once i have a material in hand i'm always reminded of the magic of it. 

when you are making something for someone it's like carving out this great little secret and once it is finished it's sent out into the wide world.  it's like getting paid to write loveletters to ghosts.
